A positive workplace culture doesn’t happen by chance. It’s shaped by the decisions leaders make every day and the way people are supported to do their best work.

For Molly Ives, that understanding began long before she started her HR career. Experiencing the impact of poor leadership and workplace culture sparked a passion for helping businesses create environments where people feel valued, supported and able to thrive.

We sat down with Molly to learn more about what inspired her to pursue HR and what she’s enjoying most as she begins her journey with Focus HR.

What attracted you to study Human Resources?

I previously worked for a company where the leadership was failing and the workplace culture really suffered as a result. Seeing the impact that had on employees made me curious about how leadership influences culture and what great workplaces do differently. That experience inspired me to study Human Resources so I could be part of creating positive workplaces where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.

You’ve shared that you’re passionate about building positive workplace culture. Why is that important to you?

We spend so much of our lives at work – longer than we are at home Monday to Friday. it is important to have a positive and safe work environment where everyone feels valued and accepted.

You’re still early in your HR career. What are you most excited to learn?

I’m excited to get exposure to every area of HR. Every client and every workplace is different, so I’m looking forward to learning from my leaders at Focus HR, our clients and the variety of workplace matters we support every day.

What has surprised you the most since stepping into this role at Focus HR?
